After Hours

 
The After Hours Social Club. No, this is not a lounge that is open after 2:00 am !  That was my first
thought many years ago when I heard about it.  It is a Singles Club that has a dance, usually scheduled for the
second Friday of each month.  I have been a member for over 7 years now and consider it among the premier
single's social clubs.  Their functions have a very friendly atmosphere and the members are easy to meet and get to
know.  There is no "meat market" atmosphere at this singles club dance.  The Board of Directors work very hard to
have a good enjoyable dance.  They usually have live music with lots of Ballroom, Latin, Rock, Swing, Slow, etc. to
dance to for the evening.  The times are normally 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm.  The Theme and Dress Code vary from dance to dance.  You must be on their guest list to attend, or be brought by a member.  If you fill out the guest card form, you will be put on the Guest List, and you will be notified about the next dance, time, place, theme, dress code, etc. by mail.
You must be single/not married to attend.  You must attend 3 dances and not miss more than 2 in a row before you can join.  Check with them concerning the rules.  The new regular dance site is at the Dorothy Benson Senior Center in Sandy Springs.  They do have some other special dances throughout the year.  If you are single, like to dance and want to meet some quality people, After Hours is the place.  [single;stag]

DFL
 

The Design For Living Club; This has been known as the "Widow's Club" because you have to be a widow to become a member.  They have about 6 dances per year, usually on a Tuesday night.  They invite a large number of men as guests and some  potential members as guests also.  They hold the dances at the KOC.  They are usually form 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm or 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.  The members bring food that they claim is light finger food for all of the attendees.  My experience has been that it is more like a big meal.  The dessert table is usually an experience unto itself, with fabulous and often fancy desserts.  The DFL members are very sociable and easy to get to know.  They all love to dance.  They have a live band with great Ballroom, Latin, Rock, Swing and other dances.  The dress code is normally Dressy, but can vary, sometimes involving a theme for the dance.  It is a wonderful group of ladies that also have other functions for the members.  Men must be on their guest list to attend, and you will be notified about the next dance, time, place, theme, dress code, etc. by mail. Eagles Club - Doraville
 

The Eagles Club has several dances with live music throughout the year.  Usually, at least one per month.  Most of them are held on Saturday evenings.  The Theme and Dress Code vary from dance to dance.  You must be a member or be an invited guest of a member to attend any of these dances.  It is a great group of people who have a lot of fun dances.  [single/married;couples/stag];  WEB Site:

Shrine Dance
 

The Shrine Club has had several types of dances in the past at the Yaarab Shrine Temple..  You will need to talk to a member about the guest rules, and any dance scheduled that you could attend.  They have several rooms that are used for dances, but the largest is HUGE and a great dance floor.  They have had as many as two dances per month, one ballroom oriented and one that is country-western, usually on Saturday evenings.  Some of these are special dances and require reservations.  Themes, dress code and prices vary from dance to dance.  You must be a member or an invited guest of a member to attend.  [single/married;couples only - no stag]

The Solos Dance Club
 

Often just referred to as Solos.  Please do not confuse this organization with the old, now defunct, Solos Singles, which held dances on Friday & Sunday evening.  Solos is a private singles dance club, somewhat similar to After Hours.  In fact, many singles dancers are members of both clubs.  They have a very good atmosphere for dancing and meeting other singles who like to dance.  There is no "meat market" atmosphere at this singles club.  The Board of Directors work very hard to have a good enjoyable dance.  They normally hold two dances every month on  Sunday evenings at the KOC.  They have live music with lots of Ballroom, Latin, Rock, Swing, Slow, etc. to dance to for the evening.  The times are normally 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.  The Theme and Dress Code vary from dance to dance.  You must be on their guest list to attend.  You must be single/not married to attend.  Check with them concerning the rules.  I have been a member for over 7 years and enjoy their dances very much.  [single;stag]

VFW - East Point Dance
 

The VFW Post 7007 - East Point generally has two dances per month, on the First and Third Friday of each month. From 8:3o pm - 11:30 pm.  This can vary, especially around the Holidays.  They have a live band that plays lots of Ballroom, Latin, Rock, Swing, Slow, etc. to dance to for the evening.  They have a big ballroom.  They have a very strong dress code.  The usual dress code is -  Dressy;  it is VERY strictly enforced!!!; Men must wear coats & ties, even when dancing;  ladies must have skirt or dress - no slacks, etc.  Some semi-formal dinner/dances.  You must be a member or an invited guest of a member to attend.  Some dances require reservations.  [single/married;couples only - no stag]
