Because they are open to the public, they are all

but some may cater to one group more than another.

Be sure you know before you go!

Latin Night Club
(Possible drink minimums or cover charges)

The Sanctuary

128 East Andrews (Buckhead);  This is truly a Latin Night Club.  Generally they play only Salsa and Merengue.  They often offer lessons in both dances.  There are a large number of Latinos who frequent the Sanctuary and most of them are great dancers.  The crowd usually does not arrive until after 10:00 pm, and they are packed by Midnight.  The First and Third Sunday of each month is usually reserved for "Tango Night".  A local Argentine Tango Club is like a host or sponsor for the night, but it is open to the public.  The music is all Argentine Tango, and many of the usual crowd can not do the Valentino (Ballroom) Tango, so you may wish to take a partner if you don't know the Argentine Tango.  You can dance either type of Tango to the music.  After the "Tango Night" is over (it is usually from 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm), the club reverts to the Salsa and Merengue for the remainder of the evening.  Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & some Sundays - 9:00 pm - 2:00 am;  DJ;  1st & 3rd  Sunday/Month - Tango Night,  8:00 pm - 11:00 pm;  Call:  404/262-1377; WEB Site:

Rock-N-Roll/Slow Dancing Nightclub
(Possible drink minimums or cover charges)

The Getaway

3300 Buckeye Rd., Chamblee.  If you have never been there, you will be surprised to find it in the lower level of an office building!  They have a very small - no - EXTREMELY SMALL dance floor.  The music played is generally Rock-N-Roll - fast & slow.  So, why go there ?  First - the music.  It is live (except on Monday) and provided by Big Jim on the electric organ.  He is FABULOUS.  Jim has a great repertoire (you will hear some Latin and Waltzes) and from about 7:30 pm - Midnight, Tuesday through Sunday, he never takes a break!  A jukebox provides music at other times.  Second - a great place for singles in the NE Atlanta area.  Especially on Wednesday and Friday evenings.  Many of the attendees are good ballroom dancers, easy to meet and love to dance.  On Wednesday evenings, you may find a group from Executive Suite Singles dancing there, after their weekly social hour (held elsewhere).  You may see many singles there after some of their other dances on a week-end.  It is not a "meat market" atmosphere.  Third - location.  It is easy to get off of the Interstate at I-85 & I-285 (spaghetti junction) and convenient for residents of NE Atlanta.  The music starts usually around 7:30 pm - ~ 1:00 am;  For information call:  770/936-0232.

Ballroom/Latin/Swing/Rock-N-Roll/General, ETC.
(Possible drink minimums or cover charges)

Bob Fountain

Bob Fountain playing on the Electric Organ has been a fixture around the Atlanta entertainment scene for many years.  He is very popular and plays great music, including Ballroom, Latin, Rock, Swing, Slow, etc. to dance to for the evening.  Many local amateur singers frequent his functions and render a tune.  If you like to sing, and you are at least decent, talk to Bob and join in on the fun.  When they are singing, you can still dance, except during the Cabaret Showcase, which is held on Wednesday evening normally around 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm.  Currently Bob is playing in the Europe Lounge of the Ramada Plaza Hotel, in Doraville (just off of the Interstate at I-85 & I-285 or spaghetti junction).  His times may vary so be sure to chek on them before you go dancing there.  He usually plays on Wednesday and Sunday evening.  Wednesday evening is an 8:00 pm start and Sunday is 7:00 pm.  He plays for about three hours or so.  The lounge also has other music at other times provided by a DJ, but it is usually 90's Rock and New Wave music.  The dance floor is of reasonable size for the room and the crowds that are there.  For information call the hotel at:
770/216-9500; ext 7228; or call 770/452-1240 for the Club Europe direct line recording.
